Click on the Apple Menu.
Locate and click Internet Access.
Now click on Internet Setup Assistant.  

A new window will appear labeled Internet Setup Assistant. The Internet Setup Assistant will ask a series of questions that this article will answer.

Would you like to set up your Mac to use the internet?
Click Yes

Do you already have an Internet account?
Click Yes

The Introduction screen will appear next.  This screen gives general information about the assistant and tells you what information you will need to proceed.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the Configuration name and connection type window you will see the following questions.

What would you like to name this configuration?
Type "AscendanceNet" (without quotes) in this box.

How will you be connecting to the Internet?
Choose Modem.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the Modem Settings window you will see the following questions.

Which modem are you using?
In most cases the computer will select a default setting which doesn't need to be changed. If the selected default is incorrect, please choose the correct modem selection. If your unsure about this, consult your owner's manual.

Which port is the modem connected to?
The port selection should be set to Internal Modem.

Does your phone line use tone or pulse?
In most cases the Tone selection will be the correct choice. However, if your phone uses pulse dialing, then choose Pulse.

You will see a box below labeled Ignore Dial Tone. Leave this box unchecked.

Under the Configuration information window you will see the following questions.

What is the phone number for this configuration?
Type in the Ascendance access number you dial to connect to the Internet.  If you unsure what this number is, click here.

What name do you use with this service (also known as your Logon name or user ID)?
Type in your Username in this box. (This will be your username@ascendance.net)

What is your password?
Type in your password in this box.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the PPP Connect Scripts window you will see the following questions.

Does your ISP require that you use a PPP Connect Script when you log in?
Make sure you have selected No.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the IP Address window you will see the following questions.

Is there an IP address for this configuration?
The No selection should be selected.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the Domain Name Servers window you will see the following questions.

What is the DNS address (or address) for this configuration?
In the box please type in 216.126.128.40 and 216.126.136.250.  Enter each DNS address on a separate line. (For Ascendance GLOBAL accounts, these numbers will be 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2

What is the Domain Name for this configuration?
Type Ascendance.net in the space provided.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the E-mail address and password window you will see the following questions.

What is the e-mail address for this configuration?
Type in your e-mail address in the space provided.

What is the e-mail password for this configuration?
Type in your password in the space provided.

Under the E-mail account and host computer window you will see the following questions.

What is the e-mail account for this configuration?
Type in the name of your incoming mail server in the space provided.

What is the e-mail host for this configuration?
Type in the name of your outgoing mail server in the space provided.
Click the right arrow to continue.

Under the Newsgroup Host Computer window you will see the following question.

What is the newsgroup host for this configuration?
The news service is provided with your account, but is optional. If you do not wish to enable this service, leave this box blank.  If you would like to enable the news service, type in news.ascendance.net in the space provided.

Click the right arrow to continue.

In the next window, you should see the following question.

Do you use proxy server for Internet connections?
You should select No for this question.

Click the right arrow to continue.

You should have reached the Conclusion window at this point. At this time you should be ready to save the configuration settings that you have just entered. If you would like to connect to the Internet when finished with the assistant, select Connect when finished. 

To save your configurations, click Go Ahead.

Your computer should now be setup to access the Internet.
